Regretably out-of-print and rapidly flying off retailers’ backstock shelves, this boxset of high-quality editions of Harold Lloyd films has been mastered from source prints that range from very-good to excellent. The boxset contains a fourth bonus disc that is not available separately.

This seven-disc DVD boxset is mastered from 35mm restoration prints overseen by The Harold Lloyd Trust, which should represent the best-surviving prints of these 29 Harold Lloyd shorts and feature films. Some of the films are presented with audio commentary by Suzanne Lloyd, Annette Lloyd, Leonard Maltin, Richard Bann and Rich Correll. Musical accompaniment includes scores by Carl Davis.

Also included is the new documentary Harold’s Hollywood: Then and Now (2005), and the featurettes Greenacres and Scoring for Comedy.

coverA seventh bonus disc features interviews and Lloyd home movies, tributes and interviews with family, friends and legendary celebrities including Debbie Reynolds, Robert Wagner, Tab Hunter and director John Landis, a narrative chronology detailing the life and times of Harold Lloyd hosted by Leonard Maltin, video biographies of many of Lloyd’s collaborators and stars of the golden age of cinema, Harold Lloyd’s Academy Award speech, USC’s Delta Kappa Alpha tribute to Harold Lloyd hosted by Jack Lemmon and Steve Allen, a gallery of 3D photos shot by Harold Lloyd (3D glasses included), photo and publicity galleries, radio show appearances by Harold Lloyd, and more.

This DVD collection still contains some of the best-available editions of these wonderful films and wew still recommend it, if you can find a copy.
