          | This unusual collection combines a silent film with a television documentary and a collection of Enrico Caruso audio recordings to paint an overview portrait of the famous tenor. Our first look at the DVD edition itself reveals a full-frame, natural-speed video transfer from, what appears to be, a good 16mm reduction print, with new English-language intertitles. Highlights are blasted out and shadows plugged-up, but the film remains watchable and is accompanied by a piano music score.
